[Full-time] Accountant Senior at Aurora Health Care

How You’ll Make a Difference:

Independently records, classifies, summarizes transactions and makes recommendations relative to accounting activities. Prepares and reviews financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (US GAAP).

Performs monthly closing procedures including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with the close calendar.

Prepares, reviews and analyzes financial statements in accordance with Aurora?s accounting policies and US GAAP.

Investigates and researches questions related to internal financial reporting matters raised by finance or operations to ensure financial activity is recorded in a manner consistent with Aurora?s accounting policies and procedures and US GAAP.

Completes an analytical review of financial statements in accordance with management specifications, including comparison to budget and historical trends. Investigates and resolves any issues identified.

Reviews assigned areas of responsibility for continuous process improvement.

Assists with internal and external auditors? requests and queries.

Responds to ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special assignments, as needed.

Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal controls over areas of responsibility.

Trains others as needed within accounting and finance.

Maintains job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Required Functional Experience

Typically requires 5 years of experience in accounting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated expertise and strong working knowledge of US GAAP.Self-motivated, results driven and detailed oriented.Strong analytical skills with well-developed problem solving skills.Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.Proactive, self-starter capable of working independently as well as part of a team.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.Ability to think outside of the box and challenge the status quo.
