Essential Functions

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; provides training and orientation of new departmental employees; requires minimal supervision to safely perform essential functions; processes radiology orders by using fax machine, as well as scheduling cue in Cerner, PACS, and Radiology Powerchart, utilizing computer terminals and/or computer systems; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment and supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions; schedules appointments for patients according to established procedures including maintaining scheduling log book, obtaining pre-certification information and providing preparation procedures for examinations at various clinics; answers telephone inquiries and provides basic information regarding available appointment times; prepares orders and requisitions for appointments; reviews orders for completeness and accuracy of CPT and ICD9 codes and follows-up with providers when appropriate coding and documents are not available; scans insurance information using Cerner; mails/faxes reports as needed; burns Cds and uploads images as requested; calls patients to remind them of scheduled appointments and to verify demographic information for billing purposes; obtains medical records release authorization in accordance with HCFA guidelines and risk management policies; monitors workflow and provides any needed assistance to ensure services provided are adequate; reports problems with equipment to a supervisor; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit; completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of clerical and/or secretarial experience. Medical Office experience is preferred.

Monday – Friday
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
